Re: River call
No not standard. You 3bet showing strength and you must continue to show strength. You have changed the whole dynamics of this hand by checking the flop. The flop has lots of draws and you gave villain a free card, plus you have given villain the advantage by not cbetting, now you have no idea where you are at.
As played, two things worry me: 1) villain may play 38% of hands but he only raises 8% so he is raising decent holdings but likely calling a range of 3bets inc AJ/KQ. Villains aggression factor is also low so it is more likely you are beat but you have a decent two pair with best kicker so I probably call the river bet, but no shamein folding. |

Re: River call
This hand at least would have been easier to play if you cbet flop. I don't think checking the flop is terrible but it definitely isn't great-we need to think about giving a free card on this flop when K and Q are more in this villains range than a usual villain, and you have a flush draw to worry about.

Re: River call
Also I would have to fold this river given villain's low aggro.

Re: River call
I call. KQo ftw.
The reason I don't want to bet the flop here is because I basically means I'm playing for stacks, and there are not a lot of hands on this flop that will stack off. If I bet flop for protection then I'm probably going to bet the turn for protection, and then I'm basically comitted. Stack-a-donk may be a good line here it's just that I didn't feel right on this flop. If he has QQ,KK or 99, then my line is pretty safe (not getting bluffed, not too many cards to outdraw, getting some value, etc). If villain bets pot on the flop, then I'll probably have to go with it though; possibly c/c flop en c/r turn. |
