Default Deadwood: S2E1 (revisted)

I get done watching John from Cincinnati today and I start thinking, "wow, I really miss Deadwood". So I just rewatched S2E1 and all i can say is FU to the HBO exec that [censored] up and let this show fall through the cracks. I can't wait till they make the mini-series.

- Al Swearengen vs. Seth Bullock in one of the great moments in all of TV

- Alma Garret and Seth Bullock get it on.

- Martha and William Bullock arrive.

- Cyrus Tolliver just being Cy.

Heh, JFC had me searching for old Deadwood threads last night.

In one of them, I commented that when the brawl between Seth and Al went over the railing, it was the only time a tv show literally made me jump up to the edge of my seat, and got me to exclaim, "Whoa!"

The fight between Dan and "The General" or whatever his name was is one of the greatest fights in television history.

Agreed that was the most realistic and brutal fight I've ever seen in a movie or on tv.

But probably my favorite Deadwood moment... the sequence near the end of S1 when Al mercy-kills the preacher while Doc delivers his amazing angry tirade against God. Best 5 minutes of television I've ever seen.

I think the sequence in Season 3 when Al convinces Alma Garrett to walk alone to her bank, despite being shot at earlier, to show Hearst that she wouldn't be intimidated, was one of the show's best moments.

That walk, with the music, the tension, and the drama, was just incredible television.

I'm still annoyed with the finale. Awful way to end the season and the series...

Yeah that scene gives me shivers. I think Deadwood has the best acting of any show I've ever seen. Brad Dourif is simply incredible and obv Ian McShane is perfect.

Just watched Milch's commentary track on the Season Three finale "Tell Him Something Pretty". I don't know when it was recorded, but Milch seemed almost defiant in his insistence that the movies would be made.

He suggested a few directions the plot could move. I'll post them in white here, for those who want a 100% pure, spoiler-free mindset when/if the movies air. But there's almost nothing revealed here, so I suggest that it would be silly to avert your eyes from it.

In real life, Bullock lost the election to the bartender, but refused to vacate the office. Milch has him barricading himself in his office, with Swearengen eventually talking him out.

The other hint dropped by Milch was the rocky road that lie ahead for the Trixie/Starr romance, as she tries to reconcile herself to letting another whore die in her place, to placate Hearst.

See? I told you that I wasn't exactly revealing the final scene of The Sopranos.
