Default Ice Road Truckers

Link.

A new show in the same vein as Deadliest Catch. Starts tonight at 10. Anyone else going to be watching this?

My wife has been watching the commercials for this for the past week and is inexplicably obsessed with it. We're Tivo'ing it.

It does look pretty interesting, but not as good as the "Man vs. Wild" marathon that's on now

I think there was a Modern Marvels ep that dealt with this topic. It was very interesting so I have high hopes for this series.

I'll watch about anything on the History or Discovery channel so put me down for a yes.

I read a really good article in one of the airline magazines (sw i think) a couple of years back that left me wanting more information on the Ice Trucker subject.

I wonder if the show creators got the idea for the show from the same article.

It's makes me wonder how many other deadly jobs there are out there that we never hear about.

After a few weeks of seeing the 'drama' of trucking across three feet of ice for 275 miles at a time, I'm getting pretty sick of this show. Here is a summary of the show so far.

- Everyone misses their family but the money is too good.

- There is always the threat of ice cracking, but so far only one truck has fallen through and the driver was fine.

- Trucks like to break down in cold weather.

- Some guy's truck has a busted heater and his feet are freezing.

- They show a computer simulation of a truck falling through ice at least one a show.

- They show an image (from underneath the ice looking upwards) of a truck passing over the ice at least twice a show.

- 60% of the show consists of truckers complaining about the cold, their boss, how they miss their family, their trucks breaking down or the poor skills of rookie drivers.
10% consists of truckers talking to each other on the radio.
20% consists of scenes of the ice road and/or truck on the ice road.
The remaining 10% consists of computer simulations showing why driving 100,000 lbs on 3 feet of ice is dangerous.

- Canadian accents everywhere.

Did I miss anything?
