The top cities in the world lists vary a lot but no Chinese cities (beside Hong Kong) seem to be near the top on any of them. Bangkok however does pretty well. Bangkok and Beijing seem like they'd be very similar to live in was wondering what you guys think they are like compared to each other. They are both huge cities, they have a lot of very poor and very rich, they have asian food and asian people. Bangkok has the huge gogo bar girl industry and girls like foreigners, I don't know but it seems like the circumstances are the same so Beijing would be the same also in that repect.

Just by way of a guy who has lived with Asians outside of Asia for many years, Chinese culture can be very exclusive, and Thai culture is reputed to be not really like that. The Chinese I can vouch for through experience(outside Asia), but the Thai I don't know much about at all, except that I haven't gotten that vibe yet from the very few I've known.

I remember when I was in Costa Rica my langage teacher said she had problems with two ethnicities. Spanish people firstly, becuase they were haughty and looked down on central american countries (and then she made fun of their accent) and also Chinese people. She said the Chinese people in Costa Rica shut themselve off and don't bother learning the language, this doesn't seem to be an altogether too uncommon complaint.

hey can you elaborate on Bangladesh please and why it would be a good place to live? My impression is that it's the most densly populated place around, dirty and ugly, not a tourist place, doesn't have as much rich just more poor people, and also bangledeshi people as far as I can tell are Indian... thai and chinese are a lot closer together than either of those 2 with indian.

Yeah. Not always, but it's a pretty real part of their culture historically, and I saw it growing up with them in Guam and Hawaii, where there were a lot of them. On the other hand, they are really great friends when they do let you in a little. Probably better than the average Westerner.

In both cities you will get laid if that what your asking.

But they are completely different. By your analysis London and Tokyo should be the same, or Paris and Chicago, or Bern and Washington...

Both places rock but are very different.

Umm you couldn't get two entirely different cities as Bangkok and Beijing. I know i'm slanted (what wit incorporating this word) towards China, but honestly Bangkok is a disgusting filthy hole. Atleast go to a nice Thai city. Beijing is really beautiful except the pollution and cold (unless you are used to that), it's also very dry at times.

Bangkok is the nuts. I thought it was filthy for two weeks, now I think it is romantically filthy. I [censored] love it.
