Default NL200 DEEP 2 pair

Villain will gamble a little, but not too loose. I've not been at the table long enough for reliable stats. Doubled up first hand when UTG (not current villain) limped w/AA and I checked 66, flopped a set.

I've been playing alot IP and stabbing at pots, so flop CR would be standard for villain with decent hand; overpair, set, flush draw but prob not AT.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

UTG ($493.10)
MP ($68)
Hero ($454.35)
SB ($293.50)
BB ($324.35)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG raises to $8, 1 fold, Hero calls $8, SB calls $7, 1 fold.

Flop: ($26) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $18, SB folds, UTG raises to $36, Hero ???

My instinct was to 3bet, but not sure how much, or if that's right this deep. Does it turn my hand into a bluff??

Getting all in on this flop is high variance but also probably +EV...

The only other line would be to call, wait for a good turn, and shove it in there.

100BB's deep my default is to 3-bet here...but this deep I kinda like waiting for a safe turn to get it in. If we get it in now...we're likely either flipping or drawing to 4 outs at best.

Oh and IMO PF is fine this deep.

People use "omfg deep!" to justify playing all kinds of [censored] pre-flop. It's still -EV.

If you have mad skillz postflop, it's probably fine. But then, seriously, your cards aren't the significant factor, are they?

Villian is 200bb deep but he could still have all kinds of [censored] that makes your implied odds pretty terrible, so "being deep" really isn't the reason to play this.

If you are just playing because you have the button and you think you will outplay him postflop, then what do you need T9 for?

i'm just saying T9 has decent implied odds 200BB deep, add to that the advantage you get by being ip, and i think it's fine to call pf

How are they greater than if it was 100BBs deep?

I think if you get 200BBs in on this flop vs. a competent player your equity isn't very big, if you are ahead at all.

You aren't going to get 200BBs in with the best hand on a TTx or 99x flop very often either.

Just because you are 200BBs deep doesn't mean Villain likes KT9 flops when he holds JJ any more than he would with 100BB, or that he goes apeshit with AK unimproved, etc.

Meh, I probably need to shut up now because I make mobnies from people that think being deep automagically pumps your implied odds through the roof, and I shouldn't be killing that. Everybody seems to think that their villains will always have AA every time they flop a monster.

This would be fine if Villain were an idiot with a narrow range. But if he's competent with a wide range preflop, it's pretty terrible, imo.

If you are willing to play this hand 200bb deep vs an utg raiser, you better now what to do vs him when you get one of the best flops you can hope for.
