Best place to stay in Atlantic City?
I am making a trip through the NE this summer and I worked out a way to stop off at AC for a night. I have never been there before. Any recomendations on where to stay? Any place to avoid at all costs? I would like a nice place, preferably with a card room. Thanks in advance.

The best place to stay is obviously Borgata. But that's assuming you aren't on a budget. |

Re: Best place to stay in Atlantic City?
borgata is the nicest poker room but staying there is expensive. you can stay at trump marina during the week for $59 and play at borgata which is close by. otherwise trop rooms are $79-$89 during the week, decent poker room there.

Re: Best place to stay in Atlantic City?
I stayed at The Showboat a couple of weeks ago and I have to say I was very pleased for the cost. I was in the newly renovated "bourbon tower', very close to the poker room......it was sweet.

And it's not close to anything; i.e. you don't want to walk there from the boardwalk. Trop is a reasonable compromise on a budget. Rooms are just fine, and poker room is ok for small stakes. I don't know if they run anything higher than the pink chip game ($7.5/$15). It's a nice 1.5 mile walk up the boardwalk to get to the Taj, which is pretty much the only other place you'll want to play poker. Just try not to get herpes from the chips. If you're doing weekend, though, just about anything on the boardwalk is going to be expensive without prior play. In that case you'll want to stay out in Absecon, where you can find something safe and maybe clean, in the $70-$100 ballpark. |
