(LC/Strat) How often do you make plays like this?
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $4 BB (9 handed) internettexasholdem.com
MP1 ($353.30) MP2 ($621.15) MP3 ($422) CO ($394) Hero ($440.55) SB ($301.50) BB ($378) UTG ($505) UTG+1 ($234) Preflop: Hero is Button with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 6 folds, Hero raises to $16, SB calls $14, 1 fold. Flop: ($36) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero bets $24, SB raises to $60, Hero raises to $424.55 By hands like this I mean pooshing overcards (I usually only do this with AK/AQ) hard on raggy non-threatening boards after your cbet gets raised. Doesn't have to be a poosh - could just be a big reraise... So...sometimes? never? once in a blue moon? all the time? Do you think its +ev, -ev, or about neutral and basically a variance booster? |

-EV. [/ QUOTE ] Explain why plz... Also note that he started with 75BBs, so if I rr I am getting AI anyway. So the stack size is critical here... |

Re: (LC/Strat) How often do you make plays like this?
I never make plays like this against good players, becuase a good player would be observant and know that I probably wouldn't play a huge over pair like this and then they can deduce that I just dont have a set often enough either and my range then becomes either air or a mild overpair...So against good players, I think plays like this specifically are spewwy...
However, I often make plays like this against bad players, because they are going to fold way way way way more often... So I think that against a bad player this type of play is good... However, most people just say that to wait for a better spot, but, whatever... |

Re: (LC/Strat) How often do you make plays like this?
It also depends on lot on the type of player specifically and whether or not the raise was a c/r or a not...
So to actually answer your question, I find myself making plays like this with over cards some of the time, and when I make a play like this its almost always against bad players (non thinking)... |

Explain why plz... [/ QUOTE ] You're fold-equity is small. Add this to the fact that your hand has very little chance of being the best one. |

What hands can call our big reraise? Of all the hands villian can raise with what % of those hands fall into the subset that he can actually call with? What exactly do you mean when you say our hand is rarely the 'best one'? What does 'best one' mean in this context? It's a semi-bluff remember...not a value shove. |

FE is SMALL?!? [/ QUOTE ] Donk, You previously said: [ QUOTE ] Also note that he started with 75BBs, so if I rr I am getting AI anyway. [/ QUOTE ] Villian has committed a significant portion of his stack already, which makes it less likely he will fold. |

-EV. Hardly ever. [/ QUOTE ] depends how often this particular player raises your cbets. Pick your spot well and I dont mind this move. And its +EV when u pick it well for sure. |
