300/600 I think i made a good fold
Ok.....I've been a lurker for awhile now and i decided to finally create an account and make my first post. I saw all the cool kids making posts about this 3/6 game we played the other night so I thought it would be fun. (Plus I have a hand that I'm a little confused about)
9 handed, Schneids (who it turns out does run bad) opens in the cutoff, Gina 3 bets on the button (this means absolutely nothing), I 4 bet out of the SB with 77, Ian J now foils my plan and cold 5 bets out of the BB, Schneids folds and Gina and I call. flop 522 rainbow, I check, Ian bets Gina calls and I call turn 9 still rainbow, I check, Ian bets Gina calls and I fold. who calls down here? who plays this differently? ps. anyone who advises to "fold preflop" should go jump off a bridge |

Re: 300/600 I think i made a good fold
ian- haha hey buddy. well you are half right. i couldn't remember the exact board but there was definitely no queen out there, it was a 9. (i remember when i folded the turn i knew that i still beat AK and AQ). But whatever, the board was paired on the turn with 3 wheel cards and a 9. Guess it was 9 4 2 4

Re: 300/600 I think i made a good fold
Kirby I am 1000% the board was Q424. Which does matter a little since Q424 is a little tougher to call down on than 9424.

Kirby, Mike's right about the Q being out there. I remember him saying I had KQ this hand.
Dpr, Gina calling on the hand has nothing to do with whether or not Kirby should call the river in this hand. |

I still think the turn is a call since his odds are so good he doesnt need to be ahead of you that frequently. |

Re: 300/600 I think i made a good fold
Well... ok I guess I really messed up this board (I basically couldn't remember and just made up one that was similar) although I don't think it matters that much.
The point was that Gina only has me beat if she has 88,99 or TT (she can't have a Q) so I was wondering how many people would vote to call Ian down if the river was a safe card. I knew that if I called the turn, Ian was gonna bet any river. Also, I guess you have to know Gina in order to know that you can never fold this preflop |

Re: 300/600 I think i made a good fold
Well, this clearly has a lot to do with Ian's likelyhood to 5 bet AK pre. I think AK is the only had he can have that you beat here - although I think 5 betting AK if correct for him (especially if he knows you can have 77 here).
You are in the perfect position to play your hand here acting last reletive to the aggressor. Getting 12-1, and with some chance to be ahead closing the action, I think the turn is a pretty easy call. You 2 outs are good 100% of the time, and you can fold the river if Gina calls it. You definitely have a call if Gina folds the river (Ian should be betting a blank river with AK). I'm not sure I would make it past preflop, but as you played it I think the turn call is clearly in order. EDIT: I could even see overcalling the river depending on the card. |
