This looks good, but I've always thought that I would be awful at Stud hi because there are seemingly a lot of spots like this where someone should fold and I always assume everyone is headed to showdown as soon as they make any sort of poker hand.

BTW I'm not understanding his bet at all if he isn't full which he likely isn't given the dead cards.

I don't think this works often enough against an unknown at 5/10 to be +EV. I don't know what he has but I think your typical 5/10 player, especially with a board like yours, will c/c instead of b/f if he only wants 1 bet going in. I would expect to get looked up here too often and expect him to 3bet as much as he will fold (not that it matters anyway.) I would never try this without a read.

I like everything except the river. Yes, you checked sixth, but I don't think that he's betting into your board with the intention of folding to a raise. I doubt that this play works for you anywhere near 25% of the time.

Love it, including the river. Not every time, but i think it should be done here and there.

Seems like a spew to me assuming the villain is unknown. Id imagine an avg in the 5-10 prob doesnt fold here but it has been a long time since ive played that game so who knows

I don't like it.

1. If you opponent is sane his 3rd street 3-bet suggests he has more than Ts. He at least has Ts with a good kicker.

This makes it harder for him to fold the river because he is probably looking at a hand like QQ55

2. If you opponent is insane then you cant count on him to fold any 2 pair, which he probably has.

The concept is good, but I'd avoid it when you get such significant action in a typically nitty structure.

looks good although that play never works online, lol, if someone bets out...they won't fold. he would probably even call with just a pair of fives. The check on 6th is pretty much saying im still drawing. Although him betting out with 2 pair isn't a good play and c/c is better, your play will work maybe 1/20 times

Default RESULTS

Thanks for the comments - he ended up folding to my raise. I agree this prob doesn't work too often, but I just felt it had a good chance of success here for some reason. My check on 6th looks like a draw and his river bet looks like reflex or it could be a bluff. Many would recognize I'm drawing on 6th and check the river with two pair - the fact that he didn't widens his range in my mind and makes it poss he just has 5's. But yea, I think a player-specific read is better in this spot. I just made a play that felt right at the time.

You can maybe make the "feel" arguement when playing live, but using "feel" when playing online is pretty dumb. You need a much sounder logical reason to make this river raise than you gave. You said in the intro, that "the villian is unkown", but then you said you made a "player specific read". Those two statements contradict themselves. It is very unfortunate that you got lucky and your opponent folded. This has given you a ray of hope that yours "feel" reads are correct online. Sorry to bring the bad news, but hopefully it will save you a couple thousand down the road;-)
