Drawy board with bottom pair and position on Turn
UTG is a main reason I'm at the table. He is running at 51/13/.9 over about 75 hands. If the board isn't too scary/draw heavy, he'll peel flops and sometimes turns with as little as one overcard. I've seen him showdown with as little as 4th pair in these cases with the pair not always being made on the flop and him not always getting agro with his big pairs, especially when he turns them. If the board is scary, he's much more reasonable and hasn't shown down anything in these cases that wasn't a flopped moderate draw or made hand. Even with how loose he can be postflop, his WTSD number isn't absurd at 35% (although this would mean he does showdown somewhat often based on his VPIP).
SB is unknown. Full Tilt Poker Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $0.50/$1 5 players Converter Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG calls, CO folds, Hero raises, SB calls, BB folds, UTG calls. Flop: T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (7SB, 3 players) SB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, SB calls, UTG calls. Turn: 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5BB, 3 players) SB checks, UTG checks, Hero ??? I've felt lost in these spots of late and tend to bet this heads up. Are we still doing this threeway and what is our river plan? |

Re: Drawy board with bottom pair and position on Turn
My goodness this is ugly ! But a good old English expression (from where I am from) is "in for a penny, in for a pound" It means get involved when you have to, lol
And so I bet the turn, and if unchallenged I check behind on the river. (Its a drawy board, you could be ahead) |

I bet the turn, there are good amount of chances that you still ahead, also fold to a reraise, and check behind the river.

*grunch*
I think a bet/fold on the turn makes sense. If it gets called by one or both villains then I think I'd check the river unimproved if I could. |

Re: Drawy board with bottom pair and position on Turn
Looks like a pretty easy turn bet/fold. Yes there are heaps of better hands that will call, but there are heaps of drawing hands that will call too.
I think regardless of what falls on the river I will check behind then lol at SB when he flips over his 98 wanna be slowplay. I might bet an off-suit Seven or Ace I guess, getting paid off by Tens and Jacks. |

I can't see that the 4 helped either of them. I bet and hope to check behind on the river if i don't improve from here.

Re: Drawy board with bottom pair and position on Turn
Why on earth are we betting? We have third pair, no draw, and we've got a flop that hits a lot of the ranges of a UTG limper and an SB cool-caller.
We're very rarely ahead here. The pot's not that big. We could use a free card. Depending on what the third guy does, if someone check/raises us we may have to call with our 5-outer. If the river doesn't improve our hand, we're unlikely to be bluffed off the best hand, because who'd bet at this with less than A7? All of those mean don't bet. |

[/ QUOTE ] I agree with everything you said except this; if the river goes bet, fold I'm definitely calling. I might even overcall if the river is a 2 or pairs the board since UTG sucks so much. Folding for one bet on a river T is especially bad. |

[/ QUOTE ] If the river goes bet-fold, then that means the unknown SB has decided to take a crack at it, and as a general rule I'm not going to put an unknown on a stone-cold bluff into two opponents on a river blank, and if he has less than A7, it's basically a stone-cold bluff. And if he did take us off the best hand, then hey, he's got some stones, he deserves five BB. We'll find out how good his bluff-fu is later on when it's not our 1 BB we're spending looking him up. And good Lord, a T is about the last card I'd want to see. I'd sooner call a river J than a river T, DUCY? |

Re: Drawy board with bottom pair and position on Turn
An 8, 9, Q, and K on the river kill us. Add to that that a spade looks ugly, I don't think we can check this. A bet may be -EV, but I think it's even worse -EV to check this behind with these two specific players. We also give the opportunity for the SB holding 7x to pair up on the river.
I agree that we don't bet the river unless we improve to one of our 5 outs. |
