Default Looking for space/trance music (I don\'t even know what to call it)

Hi OOT,

I occasionally like listening to brooding, Hearts of Space/trance kinda music. The first song I can think of that sounds like what I'm trying to describe is Treefingers from Kid A.

I am pretty much clueless as to where to find this kind of music, other than streaming the HOS website, which is of little use since I basically only listen to music in my car.

Can anyone out there point me in the right direction? Artists, soundtracks, compilations, etc?

not really my specialty but I think The Field is what you're looking for. I like it.

also The Eraser by Thom Yorke is very electronic, I like it a lot, but it's not techno.

Thanks. I should specify however that I'm looking for instrumental music without vocals. Also generally speaking I'm not into fast-paced stuff that you might dance to. More like the kind of music they play in movies when a guy's driving down a dark highway all alone.

Edit: If there's an album with 9 uptempo songs and 1 slow one I'd still love to hear about it. I can pick and choose after I listen to it.

Slight HJ: anyone listen to Sirius 33? It's called trance, and I'd say I like about 80% of what they play. I would like to know if this music is considered mainstream trance, hardcore trance, bad trance, British trance, etc, or what.

Almost spent my entire youth there. Had I not found poker I would've been a DJ.

Edit: I should add that if you register and visit the music discussion forum . I started with the trance discussions but fell in love with goa/psy.

The more I think about it the more I'm liking the idea of delving into more trance/electronica in general. Turn it into an electronica/trance/techno thread (if those are the right terms). Hit me with any of it. Also agree with Daryn that Disco Science song is killer. Thanks for the suggestions so far. Pete I will check out that forum.
