Default Pick me a Basketball Team

So everyone I know over here in Italy follows the NBA. I have no idea why, but they do, and they watch it, and they talk and argue about it, and I say, "Hey, did you see the cricket score?", and they look at me like I'm a giant turdburger.

So, I have decided to become a fan of an NBA team! But, I have no idea which team I should be a fan of. Which team has the best cheerleaders, the coolest uniforms, the baddest, meanest, get-in-trouble-with-the-law players, the coach who tends to fly off the handle at any opportunity?

If they win quite a bit that would be good too. My friend told me that I should support the Miami Heat. On ivestigation this seems to be because they have one famous player, so I'm not so sure.

OOT, sell me on your team!

They may not be among the best teams in the NBA, but the Atlanta Hawks are a fun team. They feature an opinionated and eccentric GM, a bevy of interchangeable swingmen, and, as of last night, the #3 and #11 picks in the upcoming draft.

Buy low, sell high, and relish the ability to tell future bandwagoners that you got on first.

Uhh, please no matter what you do, don't be a fan of the Hawks.

I think for me to truly value any suggestions, I need to see examples of bad-ass uniforms and cheerleaders.

Damn, well my well thought out post means nothing now.
Hmm, I am less aware of those two things than the other stuff.
I saw a dancer at a Celtics game who's body looked like a 12 year old's FWIW.

Celtics cheerleaders have only been around a year, and most fans consider the fact that they even exist blasphemy (Red Auerbach, recently deceased mastermind behind the C's dynasty, basketball legend, and long time GM and/or president, was very opposed to cheerleaders and halftime entertainment in general. Last year, he conceded, and let the team have them. He died before he ever had to witness them). They're nothing special.

But as for uniforms, they're pretty slick. I guess somewhat standard. Their St. Patty's uniforms are the best in the league, but they're only worn 2 or 3 times:

Now that I think about it, none of the team's uniforms excite me that much. I like the Cs, but I'm biased. I like San Antonio's silver get up and the Raptors, too, I guess.

I think Clark is pretty spot on about Portland. Not a major franchise, good history, good fans, and should be competitive for the next few years, and probably contenders in 4-6 years.

TSC,

I'm trying to recruit good karma over here! You already got your dose.

I think the 5 number is too small, unless they get really lucky (like Yi actually becoming really good, which I doubt, and trading Pierce for good pieces, and Al Jefferson deciding he's taking over the league).

I really the Celtics, Portland, Denver, and Knicks jerseys. Portland's black jerseys are sick though. I really hope the change the logo soon.

Dallas or Phoenix. Who cares about the uniforms? Are you a woman or something?
