looking to have 2 pcs share 2 monitors
hi everyone,
title pretty much spells it out. right now i have 2 PCs sharing the same monitor via a simple little KVM switch. i am looking to swap out my old 17'' and replace with a pair of 21'' flat panels. i want each computer to be able to use both monitors. a quick search on google didn't really turn up any options for a KVM switch that can output to two monitors. any assistance on how to do this is appreciated. thanks. jon |

Re: looking to have 2 pcs share 2 monitors
I was looking for these a few months ago and didn't see any for vga. There was one for DVI monitors but it was stupid expensive. See if you can find a KVM switch that doesn't have a soft switch that requires you to hit hot keys on the keyboard and use it just for the monitors.

When I've used cheap monitor switches in the past, I got really dirty signal. Maybe this was only true for VGA, and it'd be better for DVI, but I don't have any experience with that. |

Re: looking to have 2 pcs share 2 monitors
I've had two regular KVM switches and ended up not using them because of how bad the video signal was. Now I remote desktop into my secondary machine. Look forward to getting the primary to do dual monitor so I can have one monitor for each or two for the primary.

Now I remote desktop into my secondary machine. [/ QUOTE ] That's a good idea. You could give each computer a monitor, and run Maxivista TWICE on each machine. (ServerA and ClientB on one, ServerB and ClientA on the other.) That way your "switch" is to turn off one maxivista and turn on the other. A little AHK makes this a single switch if you're picky. -Sam edit: This wouldn't switch your K and M. Nobody's perfect. I may try them again when they support Vista as a server instead of just as the client. Or vise versa.
