It's like the WWF when you're a little kid and one of the guys on the tag team gets the referee's attention while the other one beats the guy with a folding chair and you're screaming like WTF REF TURN AROUND cuz the bad guys are winning and the bad guys are never suppposed to win in the end and your little kid mind has no grasp that what you're witnessing is anything but the realest of reality.

Like 90% of the people watching basketball have little to no clue about the game and are just little white boys or housewives with mandingo fever that want to see big black guys dunk. They're not spending their time and money to watch free throws and turnovers.

While I can't say anything meaningful about the officiating issues, I can add a story. I have a former NBA player working for me, and on the weekends I help him train to begin camp for the upstart Korean Basketball League. He played 4 years at Wake, then was taken second round by the Sonics. 45 games in, the coach called him in, previously he had spent hard hours practicing how to clap, smile, and keep his particular section of the bench from cooling at all. He tore off the breakaway trainers and started to jog out for his NBA debut, and his jersey was on backwards. As one would expect, he got reamed.

As a side note, he's the same age as Horry. He said when he had to play againts Horry in college that he would get so mad at him it was the only time a black man ever turned red.
He also played with Tony Parker in France as another side note.
