100NL: J9 suited combo draw
Villain is at 16/10 after about 100 hands. I called this in position because I figure if I hit big I'll stack his overpair, which I'm pretty sure he has.
How's my line here? Standard. I doubt he folds an overpair though so it's kind of high variance. Calling kind of sucks though, so this is fine.
Also pf is ok since you're 120 BB deep. Looks standard |

i think preflop is still somewhat gross, but probably not a huge mistake, postflop is fine.

Re: 100NL: J9 suited combo draw
Regarding preflop, as shpanko said we're slightly deep, and not to mention we're also in position with a hand that can flop good draws. I usually call in situations like these mostly to mix up my play, it's way too exploitable if the only times I'm calling 3bets are with JJ-AA and AK or something.

You got a point there. To be fair I did miss the part where villain was 16/10. In fact I think I missed that entire first sentence somehow. It's getting late :[

Re: 100NL: J9 suited combo draw
To elaborate some: apart from the rare occasion you flop a straight/trips, this is the very best flop you can hope for and you're still flipping with an overpair.
To make this preflop call even close to profitable, villain needs a wide 3-betting range so you figure to have tons of FE postflop (you basically call with the sole intention to take it away at some point on boards that interact poorly with his range). |

Re: 100NL: J9 suited combo draw
I strongly prefer just making it about $70 to go here. You give your opponent a chance to make a huge mistake and just call with an overpair then check the turn. Happens pretty rarely, but often enough to make it more profitable than shoving. Making it $70 also has at least as much FE as shoving.
