Swing Breakdown
I have found that recently, no matter how much I warm up on the range or practice outside of playing a round, when I start the round my first few golf holes I play very well, but as the round progresses my swing changes, as does my attitude, so my swing gets worse, and eventually I get so frustrated my round and my score is ruined. Do any of you guys have any advice or maybe some drills to help concrete my swing more so that I am not as likely to start making these swing changes as the round progresses, and thereby not get as frustrated at the game of golf. Any help would be really nice.

Re: Swing Breakdown
I can't understand how your swing would just change spontaneously after a few holes. I'm willing to bet that your problems are much more mental than mechanical.
Getting frustrated about a few bad shots is probably what causes you to make bad swings, and then the negativity just snowballs and you have no chance to play well. Don't let the results of the first few holes get to you. They make 18 of them for a reason. |

Re: Swing Breakdown
It took forever for me to understand this. It really doesnt matter what happened on your last shot or on the last hole. Play the shot you are facing and dont worry about anything else. It's a tough mindset for most people to get in but it really helps.

Re: Swing Breakdown
I think a key to fixing this problem is not caring. Not actually not caring about how you play, but not caring what happens on this shot. Focus on preparing yourself for the shot and then once you do that just rely on your natural swing. if you hit it well, great. If not, start thinking about the next one. You have to truly let go of the idea that worrying helps you hit a better shot.
This problem is just a vicious cycle. You play well and worry about when it will fall apart. Then it does and you worry more. On it goes. To get over it you have to truly let yourself not care. |

Re: Swing Breakdown
Do you have a pre-shot routine?
If not, you really need work on one. Stick with it. No matter how bad you're playing go through you routine on each and every shot. |
