I think I have lived with this scarlet letter long enough. My transgression was daring to suggest that a particularly retarded OP to a thread might warrant a *. Instead, I was given one. Not to point fingers, but I see this happen every day in OOT, yet I was singled out.

I throw myself on the mercy of the court. How long does this last? What do I do to get rid of it?

I'm in favor of a star amnesty for any user with over 1000 posts (if they have only one *. If you have more than that, then you're on your own).

Here here. I got mine for misposting in OOT. Apparently, discussion of that 'I Bet You' show didnt belong here. My bad. How long do I have to suffer the shame??

From the OOT sticky --

"The * system awards a * to a poster for crappy or inappropriate posts. *** and you’ll get either banned or exiled. A * can be removed in certain circumstances as well, but don’t count on it."

Maybe it can be edited to say that those with *'s can appeal via PM to the issuer of the *. If you do not know who gave you the *, then PM NT! since most likely it was him or he'll find out if it wasn't.

This may eliminate the "Please take my * away" threads in ATF. Maybe make a note saying to wait at least 30 days before requesting.

A little ironic since I myself made this type of thread to get mine removed...
