Facing a Turn Raise
I don't want to elaborate too much on my thinking other than I was having a tough time coming up with hands he could have given that he called the flop bet after a pre-flop cap and then raised the turn.
I didn't have a good read on what kind of hands he might raise the turn with. But I hadn't seen him bluff or semi-bluff at all. Am I supposed to call the turn raise here? What am I suypposed to do when I spike the 3rd king on the river? Ultimate Bet Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $0.25./$0.5 10 players Converter Pre-flop: (10 players) hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2 folds, UTG+2 raises, MP1 3-bets, 4 folds, hero caps, BB folds, UTG+2 calls, MP1 calls. Re: Facing a Turn Raise
I am probably calling the 3bet preflop and checkraising a safe flop.
Post-flop is pretty standard. There are enough AK hands that are raising the turn to merit calling down. The river card really does not change our hand much, unless you are interested in folding to a 3-bet when you checkraise. Without reads, I play postflop the same way. |

Re: Facing a Turn Raise
I think that you played it fine. I would not fold the turn with TPTK getting almost 11:2 to show down. It is very possible that he has another AK (6 combos). AA, JJ have 6 combos and you beat the 3 ace combos on the river.
I am not sure about raising the river. If you raise the river you should not fold to a 3-bet because it is likely that AK will play this way. We only make, at most, 1BB if he has AA (3 combos) but will lose 2BB if he has JJ (3 combos). |
