"Disturbia" has outgrossed all other movies for three weekends in a row - a pretty unusual feat. Typically that would make it a runaway blockbuster, but it has only made $52 million so far. That's profitable since it only cost $20 million to make, but it's nothing to get excited about. So why does it keep winning at the box office? Do movies just suck in general right now?

next week they should re-release rear-window, and really make some money.

Isn't this late spring time always a lull in move releases?

for comparison: last weekend the same weekend a year ago [/ QUOTE ] Well the #1 movie a year ago was "RV" so I'm guessing your "movies are crap now" has to extend at least back to then. Same weekend #1s going back: 2006- RV 2005- Hitchhiker's Guide to Galazy 2004- Man on Fire 2003- Identity 2002-Scorpion King 2001- Driven 2000- U-571 Seems like movies have been crap for a while now. But you're right, at least people were going to see the crap in years past. |
