Dealing at a casino
I am going to be moving soon and there will be a casino near by. I am going to be a student and naturally would like a job for some income to pay the overly high priced tuition. Does anyone know of any videos or such where I could to deal professionaly. I mean..I am good at dealing and I know the rules of all the games, but I can't shuffle and do it as fast as they can at a casino. I know their are classes but where I live now there are none. I checked and contrary to popular belief you don't need to have gone to a school to get a job dealing..
anyone deal? Any suggestions? |

Re: Dealing at a casino
you dont have to go to school, but now a days good lucky getting a job dealing if you don't. Basicly the only way to get a job dealing if you are not certified is by knowing people who work at the casino, becoming friends with the guys who will hire you, wait for someone to quit or get fired and then convince them to send you through the mini training that lots of casinos do. But the face you made this post leads me to believe that you don't "know people" which would make me suggest go to school or find out if you can take some tests online and get a certificate via that way.

Re: Dealing at a casino
This varies greatly from room to room. The best approach in any situation is often the direct one.
Call the room. Ask them their hiring procedures. Do what they say. |

Re: Dealing at a casino
the information i gave you was based on the info i got because i literaly was asking the exact same question you are right now about 3 days ago. I talked to everyone that would talke to me who worked in managment in the casino. What i was told, and this goes alongwith the you gotta know people thing, is basicly this guy who runs the poker room used to work for my dad. He told me that if i get a certificate i will get a job. that easy, idk if it is that easy if i didn't know him, but the casino i go to stopped teaching their own dealers how to deal and now they just "recruit" from the dealer school.

Re: Dealing at a casino
That's cool, and that's how it is at your room. Tho' you indicate that policy has recently changed there, pointing to the idea that it's different everywhere, and the best way to find out how to get hired at a place is to ask them how to get hired there.

Looking online there are lessons you can take online. Anyone know how credible these are and what schools - sites, are best?
