Cell Phones at the tables
I recently played at one of the RCG events, and the guy in the seat next to me was one the phone with this other guy for about 20 mintues. Not to mention he had the most girly sounding voice and he always slowed the action down. He kinda hurried up the convo when he would look over and see me staring at him like I was gonna strangle him.
have some decency for the players around you. And when i do become old enough to play at a casino, are there no cell phone rules in play. P.S. The guy next to me actually said "poopershnickels" on the phone. I almost burst out laughing at this moran. poopershnickels? WTF!!!1!!???/ |

Re: Cell Phones at the tables
I talk on my cell phone while playing poker all of the time, I also talk on my cell while driving, eating and especially while I’m having an engaging conversation with my girlfriend about why I play poker 70 hours a week. Cell phones are great…….except for maybe I’m getting a tumor. I have been feeling this weird lump just above my phone ear. It probably nothing.

Re: Cell Phones at the tables
i was in a tournament last week and the rule in this casino is that if u use ur phone during a hand ur hand is dead. These 2 were playing a massive pot, when he got the call (it was on the river and they were both nearly all in) as soon as he starts talking the other player says "you're on the phone your hand is dead". Anyway there was comotion for 10 minutes, manager called in etc. the phone player ends up showing the nuts and then walking out. :O

Re: Cell Phones at the tables
I was playing in a smallish WSOP event a couple years ago and right as we started a break a guy walked over to our table and tells his friend "I'm out". Friend asks what happened.
"I rivered the nuts and pushed all in. Then I stood up and pulled out my cell phone and dialed. They killed my hand." Horrible, awful, evil application of the no cell phone rule. The guy was already all in and couldn't change the action. Phoning a friend for advice isn't going to help at that stage. 'Course in that very same tourney I was noticing Daniel over on another table madly IMing away on his PDA between hands. An obvious sorta case where the rules apply only to some players. Anybody think they woulda ruled Doyle's or Daniel's hand dead if he'd been in the situation above? |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't know where you reach this conclusion from. The rule is if you a cellphone during a hand your hand is dead. You conclude that Daniel was getting special treatment because they didn't kill his hand for using a PDA in between hands? Did you want them to kill the hand he didn't have? I really didn't see any problems with disparity of the enforcemnet of the cell phone rule at the WSOP last year. Except that there was some confusion as to whetrher your hand was dead if you were on the phone when the dealer dealt the first card or the last card (the rule was the first card but there was some confusion) |
