Specific Bill Information Time to call your congressman again, write letters, do what you can. Information on how to help can be found in TheEngineer's weekly action thread. good work bilge - temporary sticky please. [/ QUOTE ] I have no real objections to a sticky but it might be better to leave unstickied for any comments you guys have. also, Im not totally up to speed on all this so i wont really know when all the info that needs to be said is said. eg contact details of congressmen for states other than Oregon perhaps Wookie would be a better judge of when to sticky and unsticky... |

We probably won't get any good info for a bit. I did read in the legislation forum that Barney Frank needs co-sponsors for this bill. Basically that means get after your representative. |

Just a bump for those who missed.
Barney Frank is going to need our help. The longer we wait the harder it will be to officially legalize online poker. Call your representatives or write letters. If you can't write well, plenty of others have posted their drafts. |

Re: H.R. 2046 Internet Gambling Exemption (x-post)
Yeah this news is definitely very encouraging and with this issue a lot of calls, letters, effort, and pressure could help to move this bill.
This is an issue that, with all of the other things going on in Congress right now, is not likely to receive a lot of "big" press coverage until major action is taken on it. I think that could be to our advantage (allowing Congress to deliberate on the issue away from a big media microscope and without House members trying to score political points on the issue) but keep the constructive, respectful letters and calls coming, particularly if your representative is on The House Financial Services Committee. They're going to start taking testimony in June so I wouldn't expect any major action on the bill until later in the summer. Let us gogogogo |

The most positive outcome I see if this bill is passed. The murky water of online poker legality will be clear. Your average non forum browsing, ill informed, US poker player will have no doubt whether they can play legally or not. Right now this is not the case.
