Stud/8 - rolled fours
Seat 1 is godawful and could have anything. Seat 7 is unknown and hasn't been at the table very long but hasn't shown down trash yet.
How close is a fold? What if I call and miss on the River? 7 Card Stud High-Low ($0.50/$1.00), Ante $0.10, Bring-In $0.20 (converter) 3rd Street - (1.60 SB) Seat 1: xx xx J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___calls Seat 2: xx xx 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___folds Seat 3: xx xx 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___folds Seat 4: xx xx 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___calls Hero: 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___brings-in Seat 6: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___folds Seat 7: xx xx 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___calls Seat 8: xx xx 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___folds 4th Street - (2.40 SB) Seat 1: xx xx J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___calls___calls Seat 4: xx xx 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___folds Hero: 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___raises Seat 7: xx xx 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___bets___calls 5th Street - (2.70 BB) Seat 1: xx xx J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___checks___calls Hero: 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___bets Seat 7: xx xx 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___checks___calls 6th Street - (4.20 BB) Seat 1: xx xx J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___checks___calls Hero: 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___bets___???? Re: Stud/8 - rolled fours
No, I don't consider folding there. Well, that's not true - I'd consider it, but wouldn't do it. His range of hands is too big to ever make a laydown there correct. I'd guestimate that kings up or aces up is trying to get value. I'd re-raise 6th street and play river aggressively if I filled and want only one bet going in on river if I didn't.

Re: Stud/8 - rolled fours
All the reasonable hands seat 7 could have beat trip 4s but i'll pay him off like the sucker that i man.

Re: Stud/8 - rolled fours
Your hand is hidden and it looks liek you could be on a low draw. He could easily be raising 2 pair. This is a call down unless you fill.

Re: Stud/8 - rolled fours
i vote to 3bet. seat 7's most reasonable hand is Ks up -- if he had trip 6s, wouldn't he have given more action earlier? seat 1 is in there providing overlay with a hand that cannot be ahead of you (yet). this looks like an easy value raise to me.
but again, i'm a stud/8 noob. |

Re: Stud/8 - rolled fours
You have a strong, hidden hand on 3rd & I like your betting it the whole way. I'm with the others as to the best play on the river...just call unless you fill up. By the looks of it, I'm doubting anybody has much of a low.

[/ QUOTE ] I think trip 6's can very reasonably slowplay 4th, but should definitely wake up on 5th when there is a good chance the J has made a flush draw, and anyway the bet has now doubled. So yeah it really doesn't look too much like trips. At the same time K66 from a decent player is combinatorically rare since he would need specifically K-baby-6 suited. But yeah don't fold. Even if you are behind you still have a decent amount of boat equity. |

Re: Stud/8 - rolled fours
id say six probably made 2 pair on 4th, and filled up on 7th

[ QUOTE ]
id say six probably made 2 pair on 4th, and filled up on 7th [/ QUOTE ] It's unlikey for seat 7 to have two pair. He limped early to act so it's unlikely for him to have either a single 9 or a single K down. If he was playing a 3flush with the K, he has a very very easy fold on fifth. That leaves big pocket pairs like AA/KK/QQ. one A is dead and kings just hit a boat, so that leaves queens up, and his play doesnt scream Q up either. Thus nothing that hero beats is likely. He probably started with a hand like (56)6 because that's what he's representing. |

Re: Stud/8 - rolled fours
It probably will not surprise anyone that I would go into call-down mode here, especially against an unknown.
