Default Roger Clemens sweepstakes

His agent said there are 5 possiblities: Red Sox, Yankees, Houston, Texas and retirement and retirement is leading. I personally think he will not retire and would love a return to the Sox. So lets do a scientific poll.

those recent comments about his mother makes me think he may in fact retire.

I didn't hear them. Thought that she passed away last year.

That's a pretty strange request. It's not like he's a heavyweight boxer taking trauma to the skull.

regarding the luxury tax and roger:

NY is easily going to be in luxury tax area for the 4th straight time, and it would be impossible for them to get under. boston has been over two years, but like i said will probably be under this year. the CBA is set to expire, so if the red sox can enter the next CBA with a clean slate (you get taxed more based on how many years you were over) and safely under the next threshold, they can spend over the next threshold with no penalty for one year (2007). of course i am just guessing here, but its food for thought.

My guess is neither Houston, Boston, nor New York will take him. And that RC, who has shown throughout his career only a concern for RC, will want to stay close to home so he can have special rules for himself.

I voted for Texas. I'd put retirement #2.

Texas isn't really considered a playoff contender. They're only an average team. So, I doubt Roger is going there. I don't think he wants to play for a team unless they have a real shot at the World Series.
