Default Lance Armstrong Bracelets

For years I thought those yellow LIVESTRONG rubber bracelets were moronic. Yesterday I received one in the mail from the wife of a good friend who is currently battling lymphoma. He starts another round of chemo on Monday, and I've been wearing the bracelet as a reminder of what he's going through.

I'm not sure the bracelets are moronic anymore.

You have learned a baaic premise of mankind. "Everything should be illegal(wrong) unless it effects me."

Best of luck to your friend. My father is a 30 year survivor of lymphoma so if it is caught early enough it can definitely be cured.

People wearing them because someone they know died/was/is suffering from cancer is not moronic.

People that were buying them off ebay at inflated prices/knockoffs when they were fashionable is moronic.

I've worn one since they came out; my mom is a survivor of cervical cancer.

The thing that's moronic are the different colored off-brand ones that don't support anything.

I thought they were symbolic of mindless pop culture.

FWIW, i don't wear those braceletythingies, but my fiancées family have been through several cancer deaths, some cancer scares and are undergoing two cancer issues now. So it's not like i'm against the concept of supporting cancer research.

they don't even make me think of cancer as such, more of how successful you can be when you are determined and dedicated to something. so yeah, i think they are cool. it's a shame how over-commercialised they came, but i think it would be a nice thing to wear in a few years time when the 'fad' has died away.
