I consider myself to be one of the top NL Head up players at the .50/1 dollar limit on full tilt. Tilt has always been a problem for me, but today i completely lost control of myself and reached an all time low concerning my self control. In about 3000 hands of 4 to 5 tabling the Head Up games at full tilt i lost from my peak just about 2,600 dollars. It all started with a 3 outer, which is very common in heads up play, and escalated into the worst session i have ever played in my life. I am used to going on 3 to 5 buyin downswings in a session, but eventually i will almost always come back and stack my opponent. Today was not the case. After this three outer i went on a downswing that is unheard of. Dropping buy in after buying from a combination of horid play, unbelievable coolers, and terrible beats .25 [censored] buys.wow, FK me. Has anyone ever expierenced this type of variance? Has anyone ever open pushed for over 100 bbs 10 straight times on full blown mega mega monkey tilt. Its just so amazing how i can go from making some of the biggest laydowns, extremely thin value bets, great overbet pushes, thin thin calls in big pots to just open pushing hand after hand after hand. I am too lazy to post hand histories but they all consist of pushing with bottom pair in reraised pots and getting in in drawing dead or with 5 outs to putting the money in as a monster fav and getting outdrawn for several 400 bb pots. My question to the forum is how does one rebound from such massive psychological anguish? Is there something i can do or say to myself during a session that will ease my nerves? Can anyone top this one session downswing? I should also mention that nearly all this money was dumped to a classic lag tard/ bet pot monkey that ran unbelievably hot.
Feel free to destroy me for posting this solely for self pitty. |

The funny part about this is that the rake at these limits is probably only beatable under optimal conditions so even if your the best player your edge is going to small or negative therefore this is likely not a 'downswing' its just the rake beating you.

So yes the game is beatable if you only play near fullstacks who arent tight you could probably do ok. Somehow this seems unlikely to me from the OP. |
