Default Post your favorite live tells here

Tonight's Canterbury 15/30 session got me thinking about some of the hilarious tells that one can experience while playing live poker. I have many that I enjoy, but for the purposes of this thread I will share one that I saw several times tonight from the same jackass. It is the "I-am-trying-to-pass-a-kindey-stone" face as they 4bet the river with the stone nuts. What's one of yours?

It's as old as Caro's book, probably older, but the shaking hands thing always tells me what I need to know. I'm not much of a "tells" player, but hands have a way of letting out one's most inner secrets. Always watch the hands.

One of mine is when the BB or SB stares at his hole cards for a while then places a chip on them = usually indicating weakness, and a possible 211 in progress to follow, if i am in position.

Friday night at Commerce 20/40 I open UTG with KK and it gets folded to an aggressive CO who 3-bets, the BB comes along and I cap that [censored]. The flop comes 8-high. The BB checks, I bet, the CO raises, the BB folds, I 3-bet and the CO now says "oh, I see you're just showing off for your friends" and calls. That was his tell that let me know he had 88 or AA. I took the cheap line to showdown and got shown AA.

Half the time this means AA/88, other half it means he really hates that you're pretty.

I love when kids are wearing sunglasses and peek back at their holecards when the board comes 2flush.

The grimacing, I see that more than ANYTHING.

This is good because it's reliable. Shaking hands can mean a monster or a bluff, but if the fish grimaces when the river card hits, he wiffed it. It has to be slight and quick though. If he lets out a big sigh or obviously shakes his head, it could easily be a reverse tell. But a slight, quick pursing in of the lips is a good sign he missed.

[ QUOTE ]
When someone moves all in in NL hold em, and they leave their hands on top of there cards, as if they are ready to flip them over, is a very reliable tell that someone is bluffing.

[/ QUOTE ]

I do this when I have a monster that I know is getting called. I'm ready to flip because I can't wait to show the winner. Of course my left hand protects my cards 95% of the time anyway.

[ QUOTE ]
The "pulse" - The classic jugular pulse. Stone cold bluff.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just like shaking hands, this is fairly reliable but can go either way. I look for people who have an obvious big pulse, but I always verify bluff/monster with a showdown before I try to use it against them. I would say this is less reliable than hand shaking.

The "lean in and stare at the 3rd spade that came off then look away disinterested, sigh, and check softly"
