Default Sodas and caffeine

How bad for you is it? Is there anyone here that works out a lot and drinks caffinated soda? A lot of times in the morning on the way to work or school when I've gotten <8 hours of sleep I'll grab a soda at QT and that will be my breakfeast. I know it's horrible but it get's me through the day and costs me minimal time.

I'm 19 and never really been concerned about health until recently. I have a real high metabolism so while I eat more then the average guy I'm pretty skinny (5'9, maybe 150-160) and want to start changing my eating/drinking habits.

Depends what your goals are. Caffeine is a great pre-workout stimulant and has moderate fat loss qualities in my experience. I think soda in general is a poor choice (although Diet Soda isn't horrible). Starting your day without breakfast is a horrible idea for any fitness goal I can think of.

It's terrible for your teeth, the sweetners used in it have sketchy scientific references abound, (some scientists think aspartame is the devil, I think it's probably ok) and caffeine shouldn't be abused.

I still drink it all the time however, and it's MUCH better than regular soda.

It's acids are really hard on teeth. I'm sure diet sprite has acids in it as well.

As long as you aren't going really crazy with diet pop, and have proper oral care you should be fine. I like Caffeine free diet pop a lot, but make sure your getting in plenty of water anyways.

When did I say it was a diet soda first of all? It's not an everyday habit, more of a comes thorugh when I need it type of thing. Although I'm sure it has something to do with my skinnyness. And I'm certainly not going to damn my metabolism, I'd probably be fat and even more unattractive without it.

the caffeine will dehydrate you, if you are having just one can of coke in the morning i wouldnt worry about it. But you need to take in something in the morning(protein source etc.), I am a fan of turkey bacon, microwave in 2 minutes and less fat than regular bacon and just as good.
