$100 live tourney
Nine-handed, sitting on 3500 chips which is around the average. Blinds 75/150.
Two folds. I see AKo, raise to 450. Folds to button, tightest player at the table with similar stack, who raises to 900. I call 450. I check dark. Flop comes A 10 2 rainbow. After 30 sec of thought, button checks behind. Turn is a 7, making a 2 flush of hearts, I have no hearts. I check and after another 30 sec., button leads for 600 into 2k pot. After some thought, I just call. River is another 10, no flush draws. I check to induce another bet and button moves all-in, I call quickly. Played alright? I was hoping to get action from a big pair post-flop and this seemed like a reasonable line. |

Re: $100 live tourney
Thought a hand he might have, Axs of hearts? Maybe you should have raised on turn. I think the allin bet on river is just a bluff and he missed his draw and is hoping that you dont have a good hand cos of checking.
What did he have? |

Re: $100 live tourney
I think you were up against KK or QQ and played it ok. Anything less and I think a tight player reraises more preflop. The very small turn bet is a little scary. But I can't put him on trip 10s or 2 pair. I'm not sure I'd let it go to the river with the flush draw out there. Not if I thought I was ahead and had enough chips to price him out. But you were probably safe unless he had AK of hearts.
Where was the tournament? I've been wanting to get into some $100 ish tourneys somewhere. |

Re: $100 live tourney
Tournaments are in Pittsburgh, which I'm thinking is a little far for you to travel from Texas.

I got shown AA here and wonder if there's anyway I get away from this?

Re: $100 live tourney
I wouldn't worry about AA in this spot. If he shows me that then more power to him. Although he did show a pretty strong hand with his small bet. Really felt like a pot massage. On the other hand, he could be probing. All that to say--I go broke there also. The dark check is attractive sometimes with small pairs and AK but I still think its not much of a +EV in most games. I guess if you had bet out on the flop or raised on the turn you could've gotten a little more info but it still would've been a tough fold. Better luck next time.

Re: $100 live tourney
While you are good here against most of his range, I'm not sure I like this play, and I certainly don't like being all-in in this spot.
Let's start with the check in the dark, although I can understand an autocheck here, the check in the dark just strikes me as "fancy". On to the river, I'll admit AA and TT are only 2 combos so it may be MUTBS to be concerned about them, BUT, if that is what he had, this is exactly how he could have played them. JJ, QQ, and KK are in his PF range so I guess he could be brainfarting, and giving away all of his chips, but he seemed better than that based on your decription. My guess is you are most likely heading for a split. |

Re: $100 live tourney
don't dark check anymore. Bet turn, or raise to find out where you are at. Other than that not much you can do. GL in the next one
