NL 101: Betting the flop in 3bet hands
"bet more on the flop"
"make closer to a full pot bet on the flop" This might be the advice that is heard the most on this forum. Usually when you should bet the flop, you should make the bet closer to a full pot than say half pot. But what about pots that were 3bet preflop and are already quite big? I usually bet these the same proportion to the pot size as I do in smaller pots. Should I? I guess I don't need to protect my hand as much against draws, as the implied odds are much smaller? Are there any good articles / posts on this subject? Example Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (6 handed) Hand History converter Courtesy of PokerZion.com Button ($22.50) SB ($26.15) BB ($27.50) UTG ($14.10) Hero ($31) CO ($28.85) Preflop: Hero is MP with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero raises to $1, 2 folds, SB raises to $1.75, 1 fold, Hero raises to $7, SB calls $5.25. Flop: ($14.25) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero bets $12 - should I have bet less or even checked behind? and why - this is probably a bit bad example since we are most times waaaay ahead. How does this change if we have say KK,QQ,JJ, or AK on T high flop? If we are OOP instead of in position? why? |

Re: NL 101: Betting the flop in 3bet hands
I wouldn't bet less 75% pot ($11) just because thats my standard bet whether I cbet or have a set.
"How does this change if we have say KK,QQ,JJ, or AK on T high flop? " I normally bet these situations the same too. Sometimes I will not bet AK since the way this hand played out the opponent probably has a pair less then QQ as AK shoves preflop (not always though). "If we are OOP instead of in position? why?" Sometimes I will check out of position and try and catch a bet. In the post hand you aren't behind to much and besides if he had KK he would have raised you all in preflop more then likely. I'm interested in what others have to say as well as I think I misplay 3bet pots as well. |

I c-bet for 1/2-2/3 pot in c-bet pots [/ QUOTE ] same, I think you mean reraised pots. This pot is 4bet not 3bet. I never fold here. Either check or bet doesn't really matter IMO. |

This pot is 4bet not 3bet. [/ QUOTE ] Oops, indeed it is. I am most interested in how to play typical (about 25bb-ish?) 3 bet pots HU, since this is quite common situation to be in... |
