Default What hotel to stay in NYC for the weekend?

Going there 4/20-4/22 with the gf.

Prefer to be in the central park area, the ritz by the statue of liberty I heard is a little far from by taxi to everything my gf said.

My hotel budget is like $1k for 2 nights.

I like the rooms to be on the modern/contemporary style side of the spectrum.

I like tha Mandarin Oriental , but its out of the price range by a bit.

Any recommendations?

there are lots of hotels around times square that should suit you. recently stayed at the millenium broadway and it was fine.

Check out the Bryant Park Hotel. It's near times sq, very modern, and within your price range.

I stayed there some months ago and enjoyed it.

Try the Plaza Athenee on 64th. Great classy small hotel, great location.

I stayed there last summer as well. Its a few blocks from Broadway, at 44th and first. I got the room for something like $100/night via priceline. It felt like a much nicer hotel than what I paid.

Stayed at the W last fall, it was okay, but for the price the room was pretty basic.

DB,

It's not in the area you're looking for, but the Tribeca Grand is my favorite hotel available for less than $500/night for thsoe nights.

Your gf is right, the Battery Park Ritz is a horrible location.

I like the W hotels. Maybe not the vibe you're looking for coming from Miami, though.

If you want more of an old-school white glove experience, the Waldorf Astoria is a good pick with great location.

agree with El D, Tri/Soho Grand, or in midtown either of the W's on Lexington are fine.
