Stars NL200 level of play?
So, I am on tilt last night after dropping 4 buyins in about 45 minutes at NL50. Was actually just a continuation tilt as its been like this for last 4 or 5 nights.
Can't beat the 60/20 donks who just keep catching hands. So after tossing my laptop across the living room floor after losing another buyin after getting my A's cracked for the 3rd time, I decide to sit with whats left of my roll at some NL200 tables (yay for BR management). Which actually brings me to my actual question. I was semi-surprised at the actual play at the NL200 level. Wondered if I got lucky and had some good tables or its typical to have multiple 40-50 VPIP'ers at a table? Was just surprised it looked like I sat at some NL25 tables intead of NL200 with guys stacking off with flush draws without odds, calling down with middle pair, etc. |

Re: Stars NL200 level of play?
You probably sat down at a profitable table. I see a higher quality of play at $200NL. I've also practiced at $50Nl and $25NL and based on limited experience I thought the play was as good as $100NL. I believe players at $200NL have a bad habit of raising preflop too often, and raising too big. It forces tighter preflop play and doesn't give good players a chance to outplay others on the flop. I also think I see a correlation at full ring games with high preflop raise % correlating to a losing player. If that's true it may be because they are reducing profitable postflop play.

Re: Stars NL200 level of play?
Played a little NL 200- the main difference between NL 100 and 200 that I noticed was that I couldn't get a set to hold up to save my life, and my Aces lost to Kings all in preflop. Other than that, didn't notice much difference.

Re: Stars NL200 level of play?
Play $200 NL at Stars and looke at the stats of the guys that do the most raising. I'd say the majority of those players are consistent losers. I'm not saying limp with good hands. It's a blanket statement and it doesn't apply to every player. You can laugh at me for making the comment but what information do you have to refute me?

They just like to feel like they are right. I've never really seem much backed up though. Do you use PT? If so how many hands do you have in at that level. You could always test your theory if you have enough hands in with enough people. |
