25NL QJd TP in reraised pot
My first post, so here goes.
No reads, I've probably played less than 10 hands at the table. I'm sure I should have folded preflop without any idea of what he reraises me with preflop, but I called. Comments on flop action would be appreciated. Re: 25NL QJd TP in reraised pot
ugly spot that should of been avoided, def fold pf but as played im calling the flop and re-evaluating on the turn.
w/o any reads you can't call here pf profitably(assuming 100bbs effective as you have here), period. |

Re: 25NL QJd TP in reraised pot
Against an unknown, it's not a good idea to get tangled in a potentially large pot with a mediocre holding.
Regarding your pf call, i think it's ok to do this against larger stacks, i'd fold if villain had less than you. Assuming villain is decent (seemed to build up a nice stack), you should assume his range of 3betting hands are all hands that have you beat. |

Re: 25NL QJd TP in reraised pot
So with a hand like QJs am I looking to flop a combodraw, 2pair, or top pair to continue to the turn?

Re: 25NL QJd TP in reraised pot
I know shaaaark VERY well. He is INSANELY aggressive and will play back at you with anything. He constantly re-steals, and I thought it was just ME -- like he was a good player and was 3betting me light. But nope, he does it to everyone.
Because I know him, I'd re-pop this to 12. |

Re: 25NL QJd TP in reraised pot
Hm, well, I thought about it at the time and ended up folding the flop. Seems very conservative, because what was I looking to flop? Certainly top pair+, and I got my wish. I feel like I really pissed away a few bucks by calling preflop. Oh well, live and learn.

Re: 25NL QJd TP in reraised pot
In the future, if shaaark raises from UTG, don't mess with him (he does have TAG stats). But from late position, 3bet him light, and don't be scared to 4bet him light either -- he can lay down a hand.

Re: 25NL QJd TP in reraised pot
This play could easily made with hands like AK or a pair like AA to TT.
but I figure out that he could hold AK and do a combo of a semibluff and a blocking bet. You can also try a call bluff on the Turn but you have to fold if an A, K or J comes on later streets. But you have to recognize, that the pot with that weak kicker can be very big at later rounds! I dont like a call, I don't like a reraise, the best alternative in my mind is folding. BEcause its your first hand and you don't need to put your money in a big pot without any information! |

Re: 25NL QJd TP in reraised pot
call pf if u have a bigger stack
call flop or raise is up to you. guy like this, from replies Ive seen will likely be firing a second bullet at you with or without a hand on the turn. |

Re: 25NL QJd TP in reraised pot
I've played against shAAArk or whatever a lot at 50NL. Unrelentingly agressive -- but not absolutely insane from what I can remember. A LAG doesn't have to be great to make you uncomfortable a lot, so move tables if it makes sense.
It's a little tricky to see from the converter, but I guess you're 5-handed, he's sb and you're button? I've gone from raising this to flat-calling in position. See what kind of strength he shows on the turn. Don't insta-call. History is important here (I know, you have none right now). You might ahve to play a lot of poker here on turn and river. |
