AQs preflop question.
Villain is a 2p2er, 3-bets a LOT from the blinds and runs at 26/20 - I run slightly tighter at 21/17. He has just sat for this session, however.
I open AQs in the CO for 3.5bb, folded to his SB which he reraises to 12bb. BB folds, on me. 100bb stacks. Which is the best action and why? |

Re: AQs preflop question.
aq kinda sucks to call 3bets w/ unless you know someone is 3betting you light. usually ill let someone get away with it 2 or 3 times before i stop giving them credit. once ive decided to not give him credit, i have a couple of options.
first .. theres always the 4bet shove... or you could flat call, and float his c-bet, or just raise his c-bet depending on the texture of the board. if u get lucky and hit something, you might want to just let him hang himself. |

Re: AQs preflop question.
define A LOT...i mean 26/20 is not crazy by any means...i personally do not 4bet AQ, nor do i shove with it unless i can read his soul...
call and play from there IP i guess... |

Re: AQs preflop question.
Suig,
He 3-bets a fair amount especially from the blinds. He's not nuts or anything, but is def more aggro OOP than a lot of players. What are we doing with 55 here? In a previous session he had dropped 2 BIs, I opened 77 from the CO, he 3-banged AJo over button caller and called my shove (I shoved thinking he folds most of his range along with the button). 77 holds. This is just a taster of his 3-betting range OOP, but I'm sure it's somthing like any pair, KQ+, ATs+, AJo+. |

Re: AQs preflop question.
tighten your raising requirements and loosen your 4betting requirements.

Re: AQs preflop question.
i agree it's hard to play against people who 3bet any midpair plus AT+...u don't quite get great set value with a PP against a 3bet with normal stacks and doing so against a smart, aggressive player will cost you more money in the long run trying to get lucky on the flop...
i've come across a few players who've done this consistently...get them on ur right, that's what i think is best...also, we're IP with a hand which is prolly better than theirs, in the long run, i think this is a good situation, so call, don't shove meta game is not a bad idea because good players will shut down to a 4bet, so maybe a good message might be nice, but i normally don't like doing it at small stakes... |

Re: AQs preflop question.
I usually play fairly well in reraised pots, but they're normally against retards/nits etc. which make it easier. You allude to the fact the given range is a tough one to play against, which is pretty much why I posted it. I stayed at the table because I don't think we are prob 0EV against each other and I the rest of the table was fairly deep.
I think meta vs. this player is a viable option and an interesting area, although I agree at SSNL it's usually not a great idea to start going tooooo deep. |

Re: AQs preflop question.
I don't mind a call at all. I think your hand is best here often, and the fact that you have position means you win this a lot.
[x] Aggro villain OOP [x] Strong Holdings [x] More Money in Pot [x] History of light 3-betting. Shoving is never good, but I'm going to assume I have the best hand here. |
