Default Pizza Delivery as a Job?

Hi all, I'm posting here asking for some advice. I currently work a Brookstone ay my local mall, the job is OK, but my hours got cut because corporate is giving stores less hours because of slow sales. Anyways, I've begun looking for a new job. What immediately interested me was pizza delivery.

There are about 5 places near my house, and all of them are hiring. They are starting pay at 10$ per hour plus tips, where I was making 7$ at Brookstone. I know much of that pay is to compensate for gas, but I drive a Toyota Yaris that gets 40+ miles to the gallon. Please share any info on this if you can. Thanks

BTW, im 18 and in HS.

I did delivery for a few years and it was a pretty decent summer job. Getting paid for driving around. Customers are usually pretty cool.

Downside: All those short trips are hard on your car - it's not just gas. Potential traffic citations and all that [censored] because you're driving more.

Did it for 2 years back in the day. Worked at Pizza Hut, Pizza INN, and Mr Gattis. Pizza Hut was the best back then as far as pay. That was 18 years ago for reference purposes. Anyway enjoyed it. As for the housewifes i did it 2 years and had one hot house wife come to the door and show the goods. Stood there in robe that came open with everything too see and payed me. So dont expect too much in that area.

Best summer job ibe had so far. Easy easy work, really good money considering they type of job and with an ipod (and my god especially if u had gps) its actually enjoyable. Also if ur boss is cool and u like to smoke i know people who would drive aroudn with a friend and just smoke all day, deliver pizza and eat food.

It's decent but there are 2 factors you need to consider:

1. You aren't only paying for gas you're paying for the tons of miles you're putting on your car and the (eventual) repairs associated with that.
2. Delivery driving is a very dangerous job. Car accidents and muggings do not make a good combination.
