More value from bottom set? 2-5NL
Was playing 2-5NL last night at the RIO. 500max buy-in
7 handed. I had about 650 villain covers. Villain seems to be a regular, but in my opinion plays pretty bad i.e. plays tournament style like pushing all-in pre-flop w/ 88 etc. He liked to push all-in pre-flop a lot and would check raise all-in w/ Ace high hands no draw. Hero has 8 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG Hero limps, 1 call, CO raises to 25, Villain calls, blinds fold, Hero calls, limper calls. Flop: (103) A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero bets 15, fold, fold, villain thinks for a second and makes it 115. At this point I wasn't sure if he had AK or AQ. AA and QQ he reraises from his position pre-flop almost always. From what I've seen AJ/A10 or less he calls and any draw he calls or maybe min raises. I didn't reraise in case he has AK. I asked him if he had AQ and flat called. Turn: (333) J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Hero checks, Villain checks. When he checked again I really felt he was on AK. River: (333) 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero bets $150, villain calls. Definitely bet the turn or reraise on the flop? I felt if I reraised on the flop it would end the hand.

thanks for the replies. Yeah now that I think about it I should've 3 bet the flop. I bet 15 for a couple of reasons. 1. I was varying my play since I had been potting alot of my monster draws and strong made hands. Also I knew villain would raise w/ alot of hands I beat. It was pretty late and I made a mistake. Do you always pot it because I don't bet top pair here for the pot into 4 people. How much do you bet and what other hands do you bet like this from this position? Asides from villain the others were fairly observant and so I wanted to disguise my hand a little.

As played, I think your river bet screams "call me!" Is he good enough to realize you are value betting a strong hand? If he is, maybe u should push to make it look like you missed your draw.
