Default Film festival. Movie experts please recomend what to watch

Im checking the "Movies you have recently watched" thread on a daily basis, so know there is a lot of movie knowledge here in The Lounge.

Today I found out that there is this film festival thing going on in my city, which basicly means the cinemas shows a lot of movies that otherwise never will be shown.

Thus I have this long list of movies to be shown in the next 9 days, but dont know which ones to choose.

Yeah, the list is pretty long, thing is that almost all of the movies is only showed once.

Its apperently a yearly thing, I've just missed it the other years, I guess

I really enjoyed Street Thief. I went in not knowing much about it, and that's definitely the way to watch it. Spoiler free.

Don't wander into Taxidermia unless you have a very strong stomach. My wife may never go to a film festival with me again.

Roeper's review of The Host made it sound like something I'd check out.

Would love to be able to check out The Fountain on the big screen.

M definitely.

Stalker I'd go and see, but it's slow Russian scifi, so not to everyone's taste.

Infernal Affairs
The Fountain
History Boys

fun + dumb: Dr Goldfoot

I havn't had time to look through the whole list but (of the ones I have seen) a few stand out:

Fireworks Wednesday is fantastic, and I think the only film made in Iran I have ever seen, I would highly reccomend seeing this.
M- If you havnt seen it you should, quite possibly the best film of the 30s
The Calamari Wrestler is fantastic and amazingly surreal, Executive Koala is from the same director but I havnt had the chance to see it yet.
Cocaine Cowboys is pretty fantastic
I saw 2:37 A week or so ago in London, it was pretty watchable but nothing special.
37 uses for a dead sheep was pretty impressive documentary.

Interesting that they are showing 3 Jodorowsky films. No need to see them all but if you have never seen any, try one out. El Topo is a classic. The others I noticed in the list are Fando y Lis and The Holy Mountain

cookie, that's so sick. i now loathe you and your kick-ass city.

one tip i would give is to see movies that you aren't likely to find in your video store.

however, even if you've seen five hundred copies of holy mountain for rent you should attend that screening. to watch it on the big screen with a bunch of random film goers would be a worthwhile experience.
