Semen Trees
Has anyone else observed the phenomenom of trees that smell like semen (usually during the fall or spring, I can't remember which)? If so, where have you smelled them? And any theories on which type of tree is the culprit?
The Straight Dope has adressed this topic but the evidence seems inconclusive: http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a2_363.html In those columns they suggest that semen trees are only found in southern California, but I and several friends of mine have smelled semen trees in NJ (yeah yeah insert NJ smell joke here) |

Re: Semen Trees
OP, I know exactly what you're talking about, there was a tree at my high school that smelled remarkably like semen. This was in So Cal though, not NJ.

There was a bush on campus that was known as the cum bush. Again, southern CA.

Re: Semen Trees
It's a Bradford Pear tree, and yeah, they do smell like semen. They have them here in the Southeast too. Hate them.
