Moderately interesting hand from the other week. I have kings in the hole with a deuce door card and bring it in -(K K) 2. Folded to a solid, aggro player who opens with a queen up after he sees the next player fold out of turn (he is in mid late). Folded to me and I just call.
4th Villain: (x x) Q 3 Hero: (KK) 2 5 Villain bets, I call. 5th Villain: (x x) Q 3 Q Hero: (KK) 2 5 9 Well so much for best laid plans. Villain bets and I just call. 6th Villain: (x x) Q 3 Q 6 Hero: (KK) 2 5 9 7 Villain checks and I check. River Villain: (x x) Q 3 Q 6 (x) Hero: (KK) 2 5 9 7 (7) Villain bets. Call or raise? Thoughts on other streets? Thanks, Jeff |

Nice hand, I call the river and fully expect to win with 2-pair. If you can raise/fold to a 3-bet then your very sexy - assuming the villain isn't prone to spew (most stud players aren't).

I'm wondering what villain would put you on when you call 5th, and what he'd bet 7th with against whatever he thinks you have

I like raise/fold to 3 bets.
Your hand looks so bad here, it doesn't look like a value raise. Unless he is really creative you should be fairly safe with this line. |

When I call 5th, do you honestly think that my opponent, who knows me, believes I have a weak hand?

I like how you've played this so far, but I wouldn't enjoy calling on fifth. He didn't check trip Queens on sixth. He probably caught a second pair on the river, so I like a raise. You can probably safely fold to a three-bet.

Hi Jeff:
I think you call unless your opponent thinks you're inclined to making wild plays. The reason is that he should be able to fold queens-up here, and can certainly fold two queens which he might bet hoping you will fold small two pair. Since he has paired his door card, his hand looks strong and you shouldn't be raising unless your hand is very strong. Also, his check on sixth street doesn't really show weakness since that's a logical check raising play. Best wishes, Mason |

Mason is right...but the thing is there are players who bet and pay off a raise with Queens up here. Also, if you sometimes make these relatively thin river raises it makes you much tougher to play against.
