Rocket-powered Lincoln Continental tries to jump over river
How is it that I never heard of this?
It's from the 1970's. Guy puts a rocket in his Lincoln, guns it up to 280 mph, and takes off from an 8-story high ramp, in an attempt to jump the St Laurence River from Canada to New York. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpUMSarCSQw (Glad to see the Laughs/Links forum is back on its feet.) |

Re: Rocket-powered Lincoln Continental tries to jump over river
If you're going to go to that much trouble to build a car and a huge ass ramp to jump over a river - maybe - you should consider some aerodynamics in the equation.
I bet it had enough velocity to make it over but there is no way that car was going to fly anywhere with those tiny wings on it. |

He hardly even made it into the water.. I'd like to see someone actually attempt to jump it.
