Re: PS $200+15 QQ faces ugly river
hard to criticize you here. maybe raise to 1800 on flop, push turn? sort of awkward to get to the river with that small of a stack compared to the pot

Re: PS $200+15 QQ faces ugly river
Yeah, I was thinking I really should've pushed turn.
No chance for getting away on the river, right? |

Re: PS $200+15 QQ faces ugly river
Are you really worried about the flush draw? He never calls the turn with a flush draw (maybe with AJs or KJs...not sure if he limps UTG with KJs, but maybe).
I would think he has a set, but why doesn't he push the turn? Anyway, you have to call the river given the size of the pot. Not sure I like putting 200 BBs on one hand when I only have a pair. |

Re: PS $200+15 QQ faces ugly river
Agreed, it was obvious by the river that he didn't have a set or overpair.
Which led me to believe the only thing he would push with is his made flush AJs-QJs or KQs. I wanted to get away from that river so bad. |

Re: PS $200+15 QQ faces ugly river
Folding this river would be pretty bad getting around 8 to 1 or something. Your opponent should really have pushed flop, I think that would have given you a really tough decision - lead/raise looks so strong here. Obviously dont think you care too much about he should have played, your play looks absolutely fine to me here, turn is reasonably safe, you should probably just push it though. Leaving 2800 just makes you want to be sick on that river.

Results:
UTG has J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (flush, king high). Hero has Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (one pair, queens). Outcome: UTG wins t21825. |

Re: PS $200+15 QQ faces ugly river
Problem is with 2 callers it's expensive to really shut down flush draw on flop (a raise to 2100 gives single caller 2:1). That's expensive.
No way I pot bet turn. 1/2 pot maybe. I think this is a case where the raw expense of playing the hand starts taking precedence over the odds given - even if you think you are ahead. |

Re: PS $200+15 QQ faces ugly river
why did you choose a pot-size bet on the turn?

[ QUOTE ]
why did you choose a pot-size bet on the turn? [/ QUOTE ] I'm still wondering that... I think I wanted value for hands like KJs/AJs that would've missed a flush to call a river push with less than 3k left. At the same time, I was hoping to push off those exact hands from drawing on me. |
