AA flop all-in
Typical?
Nothing stands out about table or villain yet, and don't know how he got his stack. I've been quiet since I got to this table. Re: AA flop all-in
Raise more pre-flop (maybe to 600). The rest looks fine.

Re: AA flop all-in
I think you're ahead here most of the time, if he's got pocket kings or 7's oh well you're out. More likely AK or flush draw (or both)

Re: AA flop all-in
What buy-in is this?
His flop check-minraise is probably only K with a strong kicker or a flushdraw. I really think that if he has you beat that he'd raise alot more, but if this is a donkament move then you really won't be able to figure out what that minraise means. I would go broke here. I could see him playing a pair preflop and if he caught it, that's just some bad luck, but the way this is played I don't think there is anything you can do, but go broke. |

Re: AA flop all-in
I'd make it 600 preflop.
As played I am wiling to go broke with this 100% of the time. |

Re: AA flop all-in
You need to raise more preflop. I take it you lost the hand. He probably drew a flush on you.

Re: AA flop all-in
Some responses...
This was a $5+1 on Stars. I've just started playing tournaments. They're fun, but frustrating. Preflop was a little cheap I know, but I tend to vary my bets (perhaps more than I should) and this time, AA was a little on the light side. I could've played anything from a limp to a push, table depending. I agree though, typically I would want to bet 600 or even a touch more. My main concern was the re-raise push on the flop. After I busted out (he had 77), I started thinking that this probably wasn't the best play. Don't get me wrong, I'm getting all in here without a good read, but I think I should've flat called the flop raise and let him lead on the turn. I think I get more kings, flush draws and high pocket pairs to put more money in this way. I'm likely to fold out a good percentage of hands playing this the way I did. Thoughts on this? |

Re: AA flop all-in
Why do so many people advocate raising more pf, what's the goal?

Re: AA flop all-in
The goal is to get the most value from the starting hand that you believe to best at the time, without being so ridiculous that you never get any play or that your hand is basically laid face up on the table.
Preflop is the foundation of the whole hand, bet-wise, and 3xblinds + 1 for each limper is believed to be the ideal bet amount for a premium hand (in tournaments). (Maybe this explanation doesn't suck) |
