2-5 flopped full house hand; two questions
2-5 nl at the Venetian. I have about 700 behind, opponent covers, 6-handed. Opponent appears to be decent but has been playing all night and is drinking.
UTG limps, I raise to 20 with 77, UTG calls. Flop: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Check/ I bet 45 he calls. Turn A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Check/ I bet 60/ raise to 160/ I call. River A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Question A: What's my action if he bets 200? Question B: What's my action if he bets 500 or more? Question C: I am fairly sure I should have raised the turn, but I think calling is not that bad either. Any thoughts on the turn? -Diplomat |

What an ugly river card..
IMO you should definatly reraise the turn, on the river as played i would call on question A, not sure on question B.. tough spot.. i think he has aces full there but maybe the flush? |

Reraise turn, if he bets the river im dumping it, he would almost certainly check a flush in this spot (and you might be able to get a little value).

he wants to get the money in on the turn - why didn't you let him?

Re: 2-5 flopped full house hand; two questions
calling the turn is fine, its being a bit results orientated to say you should definitely re raise turn

Re: 2-5 flopped full house hand; two questions
Lots of answers to the easy question (C) and not many answers for the tough questions (A and B). Anyone have some additional constructive thoughts on these two river scenarios?

Re: 2-5 flopped full house hand; two questions
It's very tough for him to have an ace here. Almost always he should have a five or a flush, and the river card should slow him way down. However, drunk people do really stupid things so how much I'm willing to call on the end is pretty highly correlated to his sobriety level.
edit: if he's not really drunk he should realize that an ace comprises a bit part of your hand range. |

[/ QUOTE ] I agree with what you have written here. In my original post I should have been more specific about how intoxicated he was. Definitely not drunk but definitely not sober. I'd go with happy buzz. Either bet is difficult to call imo. In reality I think I'm calling both sized bets because I cannot find an ace in his hand. The turn checkraise just smelt too much like a five or a flush for me to fold. I also don't know what he expects me to call with if he pushes... -Diplomat |
