Default Freedom vs License

[ QUOTE ]
Just recently, the Australian government informed its Muslims that those amongst them who want to live under Islamic Sharia law should leave the country. In other words: if secularism is not your cup of tea, Australia is not for you.

What exactly is Sharia law? Does that mean just being a Muslim, or is it a radical code of conduct of some sort?

It's a radical code of conduct. There are some extreme aspects of it (I'm pretty sure you can stone adulterous women) that are certainly illegal for other reasons, but many, such as dress code, are much more mundane and their ban would be an infringement on a person's freedom of expression (now, I don't know what the laws are in Australia, but I certainly don't see how a ban on Sharia practices could be legal in the US).

Change "to live under" to "impose on all", then the answer to both questions is yes.

But isn't "impose on all" the goal of all religious or radical people when they choose to use politics as a means to promote their beliefs?

Sweet Zombie Jesus Yes!!! Religion is the leading killer of people in the history of man. Ban that [censored] today. In fact round up and shoot anyone that has a fanatical devotion to any religion that advocates killing others.
Whew, what happend. Oh I must have blacked out and typed one of my crazy pipe dreams again. Hate when that happens.

You're probably thinking of malaria. It's similar to religion, except instead of being an organized system of beliefs about the origins of mankind and the universe, it's an acute syndrome caused by a microscopic protozoan of genus Plasmodium. Here's a mnemonic to help you keep them straight: Malaria is a microbe, and religion is a regimented system of beliefs.
