Brag/Beat Watch - Will my poker study get funded?
So about two, two-and-a-half weeks ago I applied for a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship at the University of Georgia. I'm an undergrad at UGA studying economics right now. I'm doing some econ research right now for class credit, but the SURF is much more prestigious/balla than doing any kind of regular undergrad research.
You get 6 hours of class credit, a faculty mentor, publication, and like 3000-3500 dollars if your research proposal is approved by the committee for SURF. My proposal dealt with finding game theoretic solutions in HU NLTHE against extremely simplified and predictable opponents. Pretty math intensive but [censored] plz. game theory is my bitch So anyway the day is here, and at some point today I get an email saying either i get cash, class credit and getting published over this summer or i will be working some god awful other job. Will post updates until the moments arrives yo. Gettin paid to study the math of poker would be balla as shtt honestly, espcially being a micro grinder right now. Ofcoursetheydon'tknowthey'rejustbuildingmeabankrol l... Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... Cliff notes: Research game theory of poker, get paid? Email today, pain or celebration follows. |

if you're so good at game theory i would think it's more profitable to play all summer long that work some [censored] job OR write some publication.

Re: Brag/Beat Watch - Will my poker study get funded?
Game theory research will probably be my eventual profession. I have kind of a vested interest. And I am much better at math than at poker right now. Although I'm beating the micros pretty solidly waiting for a BR to move up, but beating the micros just proves you have a pulse and a computer.

Re: Brag/Beat Watch - Will my poker study get funded?
OP,
I wish you all the best but there is alot of work on this already. (check google scholar) Feasability of taxing internet gaming revenue and distributing it on a statewide level would have probably been a better bet. don't know how horse racing revenue is distributed but that's a great case for example, as well as recent decisions in europe (see: legislation forum). Re: Brag/Beat Watch - Will my poker study get funded?
You should talk to Richard Brodie. He plays a theoretical perfect game of poker and is theoretically unbeatable at any theoretical time and in any theoretical situation.
*Note: Theoretical results may not reflect actual results. Donkification is a disease, and can be treated. For best results, apply topical ointemtn twice a day in a clockwise direction and chant "I are Ninja" repeatedly. Entering tournaments may negate any positive benefits of topical cream. Do not attempt to operate pokering machinery when using topical ointments of any kind. unless it is hand cream, which in that case you should close all poker windows and start searching for porn. And for god's sake, use a tissue. Or something. Don't just leave it there to dry overnight, cause that is gross. Results not typical. I need help. |
