Default Bad Bad Hand

I think I played this hand badly, but it must just be in retrospect.

10 handed $15-$30 at the Bellagio.

Tight, mid aged asain man raises UTG.

I can't tell if he's good or not because he just doesnt play that many hands. That being said, he 3 barreled an ace high flush draw a few hadns before- it missed and he got called down by bottom pair- so that hand was in my head.

I cold call in the BB with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Flop is 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I check, call

turn is 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

I check, call

River is K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I grit my teeth and check, call

Thoughts on this weak ass play?

It's not a cold-call when you put in 1 SB to call a raise from the BB.

You might consider checkraising the flop or the turn.

There shouldn't be a "consider" about it. chk/rz this turn EVERY SINGLE TIME!

I think that you're right,PJ.

I also think that donking the flop is better than check/calling.

Yeah, but if I donk the flop and he raises, do I gotta fold?

No, thats my point. Im pretty sure he raises AK if I donk the flop. So his raising range would be basically any overpair and AK and maaaybe AQ. Which I think means I have to fold. I played this hand too passively because I didnt want to be raised off the best hand.

Fold preflop. I check-raise the flop here and call down if he three-bets. Given that you didnt check-raise the flop I would definitely check-raise the turn. He could easily have overcards to your 9 like QJs/QK/etc. that you want him to dump now. Dont give him a shot to river you. If he three-bets you on the turn all is not lost as you still retain a good shot to outdraw him with an ace, nine, or any diamond on the river.

Didnt mean to say cold call. You think the pre-flop call is ok? I almost mucked it then.

I really wanted to chekc raise the turn, but I didnt want to get 3-bet with so many outs- which i guess is counter-intuitive.

its looks like you tried a check raise on the flop and got called behind...so bet out on the turn...
