If she's worth jeopardizing the relationship with your friend/acquaintance, then the answer is immediately. Her ex does not own her or have any say over who she dates.

I've got a marco polo streak and my friends are all [censored] talking bastards, if I was playing sloppy seconds to one of them, I would NEVER hear the end of it, heh.

Look at how everyone encourages hooking up with 'taken' girls in other posts. If you are really friends with someone, you never touch their ex-wife/fiancee, only a LTR under very rare circumstances, and shorter relationships after around a year with consent from friend. Violate any of these and you are a piece of garbage. EDIT: I'm describing friends and good friends. Acquaintances are another story, their ex gfs are not off limits .
