Weird lottery game for a state with no other legal gambling
Tennessee only just recently legalized the lottery.
Before that there was zero legalized gambling in this state I believe (hey, I'm not from here..I just live here). The latest lottery game (being advertised on TV) is a WSOP Hold-em type scratch-off game. Not only can you win up to $100k in cash on the scratch-card but you could also win a seat to the main-event of the WSOP. Add a few more fish to next year's line-up!!! I just thought it was kind of a strange game considering there are no casinos in Tennessee or legal casino-poker. I guess the scratch-off is some kind of hold-em theme. May actually have to buy one of those stupid scratch-cards to get further details (note, I don't play the lottery EVER and I'm kind of opposed to them). |

You'll scratch off flopped quads and your opponent has to catch perfect perfect for the straight flush to win, and of course it comes in every time. I'm having a huge downswing right now when it comes to scratch tickets. |

Bob, you need to start about 3 home games a week. Then hang around some of those convenience marts and pick out the customers buying those lotto tickets who look like they actually have some money to their names. Then strike up a conversation and invite them to your games. The state has given a perfect way to identify a constant supply of fish to replenish those who go bust to you if you pull this off right.

Re: Weird lottery game for a state with no other legal gambling
I don't live in the suburbs. I live in the middle of the city.
Those scratch-off players keeping me from paying for my coffee or newspaper in a timely manner do not look like the most affluent members of our society. Before Tennessee legalized the lottery a couple years ago the line at the convenience store was NOT 5 minutes or longer. "Ummmmm....I can't decide. I guess I'll take 10 of the pick-fours...and 5 of the magic 21's....no no no...make that 15 of the pick-fours and 10 of the magic 21's" (geez...can you just hurry up about giving your damn money away already) However, it's still a nice idea. When I move to the suburbs I'll grab up all those lottery players. I just find it amazing that a state government that is supposedly anti-gambling (but pro-lottery) now has a state lottery commission that strikes a deal with the WSOP brand. The lottery tickets have the WSOP logo (it covers about half the ticket I think) so I assume they are somehow 'officially licensed' WSOP tickets or something and must obviously also somehow involve Harrah's. this means that the anti-gambling Tennessee govt is somehow directly in business with Harrah's gaming (which I think is really weird). Also, it wouldn't surprise me if others started reporting a similar scratch-off game from the WSOP in their state. It's brand new in Tennessee and it's being advertised on TV a lot as well. |

Re: Weird lottery game for a state with no other legal gambling
advertising an opportunity at a chance to play in the most prestigious gambling tournament in the world to a group of people whove never had a chance to legally gamble in their lives is sure to make sales.
