About a month ago I had a keylogger on my computer (courtesy of holdumgod's aim account) and had my stars full tilt and ultimate bet accounts hacked. Stars and ftp were quick to recognize the situation and freeze my accounts, however the hacker made away with a decent amount of money on ultimate bet. When this happened, I hired a professional to come and reformat and secure my computer. After this was done I got my stars and ultimate bet accounts back. Full Tilt, being slow as usual, took over 3 weeks to re-instate my account, which was about 3-4 days ago. Less than 48 hours after this, and having not played one table on full tilt since i got my account back, I come home to find out that my account has been hacked and emptied. After emailing full tilt and having them promise a thorough investigation that should take about a week, I get this response
Thank you for your email. Firstly, we are sorry to hear about your situation with your account. Since we have originally set the necessary security precautions regarding your account and asked you to change your password to avoid future incidents like this, it thus appears that this hacker has direct access to your computer without your knowledge. We strongly urge to you have your computer checked for a keylogger program, which can record every keystroke on your computer, and as such can gain sensitive information regarding your accounts and personal information. For the time being, we also strongly recommend not using your personal computer for the time being as a point of contact. Any confidential information you may have on your computer, we strongly urge you to contact these pertinent companies to safeguard your accounts, including your email account (please change your password to your email from a different computer). The hacker can possibly have access to your email account and delete any emails that we may forward to you regarding this investigation. I have reviewed the particulars of your account and unfortunately am going to inform you that $28,454.40 has been lost through tableplay to veritable poker players who were not involved in this scheme on Full Tilt Poker. These funds will be unrecoverable as they have been lost to clean players of Full Tilt Poker. Moreover, the $5,000 transfer to playerID: thegreat22 occurred as the hacker asked this player to trade $5,000 (under the pretenses of your account) of Full Tilt Poker funds for Ultimate Bet money. As such, thegreat22 (who was being helpful) agreed to proceed with this transfer. It is then that your account transferred $5,000 to this player, and in turn, thegreat22 transferred $5,000 to the hoax player's Ultimate Bet account. We are currently in the process of contacting Ultimate Bet regarding this $5,000 transaction and the great22 to assist with the reversal of this transaction if possible. Any new information regarding this investigation we will forward to you immediately. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this unfortunate situation. Regards, Kevin L Fraud Investigator Full Tilt Poker Support Upset with them seemingly brushing me off, I respond with these 2 emails.... I STRONGLY urge you to review the log of hand histories that were played on this account to check for foul play. This is absolutely ridiculous that you would allow all this money to go obviously stolen between 2 guilty parties. I am aware that there was another if not many other similar situations regarding an even larger amount of money on your site. I can assure you that my computer is 100% secure and I had yet to even play a table on your site after I got my account back. I can only strongly urge you to continue this investigation in attempts to recover the stolen funds otherwise you are just empowering a notorious hacker who is in the process of DESTROYING business on your site. The outcome of this investigation will play a great part on both the future of mine and many other top player's business with your site. I would appreciate a further update after a more thorough investigation, and I hope that I, along with many others, can continue to go about doing large amounts of safe business with your site in the future. Thanks in advance. I would also like to make a note that there is a GLARING resemblance between my case and that of jcmoussas, and if you are able to recover his funds there is no way you shouldnt be able to do the same for me. I can assure you that foul play is involved here, and there is dumping involved, whether it may be obvious or more sophisticated. I would also like to note that neither my stars or ub accounts were hacked and remain 100% secure since i took measures to secure my computer...and that both of these sites were hacked when it originally happened. So I must say that there's something fishy going on here, and you can not write this off to my computer being unsecure, because I had a trained professional come and reformat my entire hard drive. Also, I had not even played on the account since I got it back, and within a mere 48 hours you allowed my email address to be changed to a fake address that was never verified? not to mention a random address change to florida??? There are so many things wrong with this situation that were glaringly obvious to your people. So as I will continue to do, I urge you to further investigate this case in a thorough manner. I am also currently in contact with ftp sean and plan to contact ftp doug again. I would also appreciate a log of all the hands played on my account from the last week. Also, an update on my case as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated. I'm not what is going to come of this, but if full tilt fails to further this investigation I will be very disappointed. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

a keylogger is a program that tracks every keystroke in your computer. it also usually sends that keystroke history to someone with the intention of extracting passwords/credit card numbers/etc.
Keyloggers can be integrated into other seemingly harmless programs (trojans). Never run a program on your computer unless it comes from a veritable source, and you are getting the file from the official source (ie downloading pokerstove.exe from www.pokerstove.com and not getting the file from some 3rd party). |

I use processguard and snoopfree.
Processguard warns you when any program wants to connect to the internet and you can accept/decline each program. http://www.diamondcs.com.au/processg...?page=download snoopfree alerts you to any programs that are trying to read your screen or hook your keyboard. http://www.snoopfree.com/ These are both free. Edit- I also use a firewall and virus/adware scanners. Oh and I just started using this free program too. http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...e/default.mspx |

Good news. I've talked with the local authorities and an artist's sketch has been rendered.
