Default In the long run.........

I hear many people say "in the long..." etc. Your AK may lose to 77 50,000 times in a row and at the end, the odds will even out. Which means that you will be at even. Does this mean there isnt any money left to be made in the cash games?

I guess by outplaying your opponents (stealing pots) you could make living off of playing cash games? I dont konw...i think im gonna stick to tournaments only

I don't really understand the bit about cash games but yes. The chance of your AK losing to 77 50,000 times in a row quite obviously are about the same odds as Uzbekistan winning the world cup. It is quite possible for coinflip situations to go against you a lot though. I've recently been on a run where i counted 13 coinflips lost in a row (and all the money I deposited onto this new site) but In terms of my profit over the 2 years ive been playing im well in profit. When you're going through the tough spell it's really tough to tell yourself that eventually your luck will even out (believe me) but it invariably will. You could have appalling luck with coinflips over the space of 100 sng's and be losing money, but if you're a good player after say 4,000 sng's you should be on top of things. I probably havnt really answered ur question but I hope this helps in some way.

If you're asking me then I play tournaments mainly. sng's and mtts. In tournaments you cant really pass up the opportunity to get your chips in too often as you have limited time with the blinds going up and AK could well be the best hand you see. Obviously cash games you can play more post flop with the blinds staying the same.

Far from it. It means there isn't any luck involved over a long enough period of time. The better players will always win if the game goes on long enough. In casino games, where the house has the edge, the players will always lose if they play long enough.

If you lose 50,000 times in a row (the "short" run) and you continue to play one hundred million times (the "long" run), when you total it up, chances are you will be about 50,000 wins behind. However, as the number of games you play approaches infinity, the closer the percentage of wins to losses (in "coinflip" situations) approaches 50%.

Ahh, no. Just the opposite. Instead, it means that in the long, long run everyone's cards equal out and the better players, no longer enslaved to their cruel master variance, are free to laugh and play and spend their cash pile, while the dummies get their just reward of going BUSTO. This has nothing to do with MTT, STT, or cash games. It has to do with getting the best of it (and getting your money or chips in) in whatever format you are playing when you are ahead, and folding when you are behind if you don't have pot odds.
